Counseling Services
Individual,
family, group, and career
counseling is provided by qualified counselors with law enforcement
backgrounds.
Individual
Counseling
Individual counseling offers the utmost privacy and confidentiality
for the client. It is often much easier to open up and share ones
true feelings in an individual counseling session since the client
does not fear peers or family members hearing what he/she is feeling.
Since the client is the sole focus, the counselor can devote their
full time and attention to the individual and tailor their counseling
sessions to address the needs and concerns of the client. Individual
counseling also allows the counselor to utilize a variety of therapeutic
techniques with the client to maximize the effect of the sessions.

Group Counseling
Group counseling is very productive when dealing with a group of individuals
who share a common issue or problem. The counselor serves at the group
moderator and focuses the group to stay on course during discussion.
Group counseling is very effective in allowing one to vent their concerns
and showing other group members that they are not alone in their feelings.
Most importantly, group members can learn from the experiences of
fellow group members Group members tend to develop a comradery and
encourage one another in overcoming the issues. Oftentimes shy individuals,
who may not want to open up and speak during individual counseling,
will participate and speak out once the ice has been broken and they
realize that they are not alone.
Family Counseling
Family counseling is the one often overlooked and deemed unnecessary
by some members of the family. Some family members will feel that
it is not their problem and choose to distance themselves from the
person they view to be the problem. With appropriate family counseling,
family members can learn to cope with issues that had been divisive,
share their true feelings, give and receive advise or criticism, and
work as a family/group toward a common goal.

Career Counseling
Disabled and retired police officers often feel pigeon holed for developing
a meaningful and rewarding career following their separation from
law enforcement. Law enforcement is not just a career choice, but
a life choice. Many retired officers cannot envision themselves doing
anything but law enforcement. With appropriate career counseling,
including career testing materials, retired officers can focus on
new career paths and determine if additional education or training
may be needed. Unlike 21 year old college graduates, retired police
officers are not as mobile to uproot and move across the country to
pursue a career. Special considerations must be considered regarding
physical limitations, family commitments and realistic goals.
